UniSA Ventures

UniSA Ventures is the technology commercialisation arm of the University of South Australia (UniSA).

We work with UniSA staff and students to translate the outcomes of research into products and services that create a commercial return, and have a positive impact on society. We also work with industry to help meet their needs using the world-class expertise and capabilities of the University.

UniSA Ventures' company structure is unique: we are wholly owned by UniSA and empowered to make decisions. This enables us to be flexible, creative and efficient throughout the commercialisation journey. 

 What we do

UniSA Ventures develops commercially viable opportunities between industry and UniSA. Our key services include: 

  • Commercial assessment, planning and strategy development
  • Intellectual Property (IP) advice and protection
  • Funding and industry engagement
  • Technology licensing
  • Company formation
  • Legal advice and support for commercialisation
  • Commercialisation workshops for UniSA Divisions, Schools or research teams.

The round was led by Australian VC firms Main Sequence Ventures and Blue Sky Venture Capital and included Boeing HorizonX Ventures, Singtel Innov8 and Right Click Capital. It is globally the largest round announced to date for a tech startup using Space 2.0 for IoT. It is also the first investment outside the United States for Boeing HorizonX Ventures.
